You were not in 4th grade for T2. I remember seeing it as well. T2000 is scary but I think ultimately T-Pain will be the robot that defeats us all.
Coming to America is one of my all time favs. I remember my family watching this and making me stay in another room cause i was too young, but I heard everything.
oh maybe you are right. fifth grade. T2 didn’t scare me. it got me super psyched about robots and time travel and shit. like it warped my brain to be all “creative”. who is t-pain ?? actually i just googled him but i still don’t really know who he is / never heard of him. best of luck to him in the kids choice awards?
Hey Aaron,
Just stopped by to see if there was anything new up, and almost sprayed my computer monitor with coffee. When is your book of comics coming out? Hell, if Calvin and Hobbes can do it, you certainly can. I’ll order an advance copy.
For me, the first movie that sent me running up the aisle screaming was Cannonball, with David Carradine, 1976. My dad had custody of my brother and me that weekend, and he took us to see it at the theatre. I was 8. You know the plot– “we all race our cars from one coast to the other and the winner gets a bunch of money. Oh, and it’s illegal.” So there’s this one scene where David Carradine’s best friend is coming up over the hill, and The Bad Guy has his car jacked up on the side of the road, as if he has a flat tire. Except he’s hiding under his car with a high-powered rifle, looking through the scope with David Carradine’s Best Friend’s head in the crosshairs. Bad Guy pulls the trigger, David Carradine’s Best Friend In The World takes the bullet in the forehead, his car veers toward Bad Guy’s car, hits the jack, car falls and crushes Bad Guy and blood comes squirting out of his mouth.
I freaked. Dad had to chase me down as I ran for the lobby wailing.
I will take the second copy. The pre orders are flooding in. When will TBO release an album? I think my comedy album, your collection of comics, and a TBO album should drop the same date July 2010. I’m serious, what do you think? I’ll work on my hour of comedy, you work on your comics, and we’ll both get about 8-10 songs ready.
welp i do aim to get a book of comics done for the next STAPLE comic convention in austin next year in march. by then, if i can keep it up every week, i should have like 200000 comics or something. then i get my own little newschoololdschool table and watch people pass me by and maybe sell 3 books. i’ll def send yous guys some.
TBO album would be hot. so would a new site. all we need is just a little patience (and way more time). although being busy has been kidn of ok. and you definitely should put out a comedy album.
wow. i really want to use those movie posters as an idea for the cover of the actual newschool book of comics when it does come out. i’ll be sending the advance copy your way for sure, sir tim.
T2 blew my mind in a really positive / immature way i think …. i’m always thinking about robots and time travel and computers taking over our lives without us realizing before it’s too late. the movie that scared the living shit out of me when i was in 1st grade was pee wee’s big adventure. when that big martha lady freaks out when he’s in the truck. i distinctly remember running out of the tv room crying / sobbing / absolutely obliterated after seeing that. i think that movie is rated PG
it must have been 7th grade when i saw candyman. that movie was really scary to me and basically made me lose interest in watching horror movies for fear of psychological damage. i’m sort along the lines of “grandma’s boy” these days. just saw nick swardson do stand-up at the paramount on friday and it was super fun (ny).
my mom always took me to inappropriate movies. i would have nightmares. i just wanted to see a cartoon….
i have very distinct memories of what may have been the first 2 rated R movies in my life. i know i saw these during elementary school.
1) coming to america. thank you HBO. i think this was the first.
2) terminator 2. this definitely was the first R movie i saw in theaters. i’m pretty sure i was in 4th grade. mind blown.
